Village of Fruitport Attractions

Pomona Park serves Village residents and those from outside the community-its greatest asset being water frontage on Spring Lake. The park has a playground, fishing pier, boat launch, picnic pavilion, public restroom, bike path and band shell. Accessibility rating is “3” in that most of the facilities meet accessibility guidelines. Paved paths links directly with paved parking areas to permit barrier-free access to the pavilion, restroom, band shell and fishing pier. The park is heavily used for family gatherings. In the summer, there are often lines of boaters waiting to use the boat launch additional side piers are needed. The community survey reflected a desire to expand the public docks in addition to activities in the park (e.g., increase the use of the band shell). There has also been discussion regarding park expansion to the west.
Three smaller facilities in the Village are the old swimming hole at Pine & Lake Street, the terminus of 8th Avenue and Veterans Memorial Park on 3rd Ave, which has seating, a garden area and monuments across from the post office.
The bike path is located along Park Street and 3rd Ave is well used by the community. There is a desire to expand the trail out Bridge Street.

Pomona Park, Veterans Memorial Park and the bike path are maintained by the Village DPW. T
