Bike on Boat (not including bike rental)

Overview

The Boat departs Ross Castle at 11am (Reen Pier, red boats).

Bike rental is not included in the cost of the tour.

Please note there are no bike rentals available at the pier. It takes approximately 15 minutes to cycle from the bike hire shop to Ross Castle (Reen Pier, just to the right of Ross Castle, red boats, depart at 11am). If you require any assistance, you may come to our office first, located at O’Connor’s Traditional Pub (7 High Street) and we will direct you from here.

The Gap of Dunloe is a 7 mile (12km) journey in length, the terrain is hilly, highest elevation is 840ft. From Kate Kearney's Cottage to KIllarney town centre is approximately 12km. This is mostly on flat ground, with some of the road trail.

For those wishing to do the tour in reverse, the boat departs Lord Brandon's Cottage at 2pm.

Please note, due to current low water levels on the lakes, passengers must disembark at Dinis Cottage and navigate a path on foot of approximately 400 yards/365m across Rustic bridge and meet the boat on the other side in order to allow the boat to pass through the shallow water. Unfortunately due to these exceptional circumstances on the lake the trip may not be suitable at the moment for any person that may experience mobility issues or walking difficulties as there is no way to avoid the walking portion. We apologise for this, however it is beyond our control due to the lack of rain we have been experiencing.
