CLASS Reentry 301

Overview

Part 2 of essential seakayaking skills- reentry to a seatouring kayak is covered in this session.

Reentry is a requirement in renting a seatouring kayak from most outfitters. In this class you will learn the proper skills and get valuable tips to avoid common mistakes.

After this class you will have a strong and fast recovery capabilities for yourself and be able to help others. Additionally you will enjoy paddling more with confidence.

TOPICS COVERED:
This class will go over 2 commonly used recovery skills;
Solo Paddle Float Reentry - using a paddle float aid
Assisted T Rescue- easy reentry method with a buddy

If time allows, we may attempt to practice additional techniques;
Scramble, Heel Hook, Stirrup Reentry, Hand of God, etc.

Wetsuit Provided
Adult up to 2XL and junior sizes are available. Previous kayaking experience is recommended, but not required. Ability to swim is helpful, but not required.

Bring a sunblock, sunglasses, hat, change of clothes in case you get wet. Also, bring your wetsuit if you have one(we provide one, but yours may fit better.)

Online booking closes early, sometimes days ahead. This class requires at least two participants. Sign up with a buddy if possible. Inclement weather may cancel the class.

We can NOT accept walk-ins for this event.

Booking information

INCLUDE
Wetsuit, booties, life jacket, paddle, spray skirt, rescue kit, touring kayak.

WHAT TO BRING
A towel, swimsuit (to wear under wetsuit).
Also recommended; dressing in layers, sunblock, sunglasses, (glass retainer), bottled water, hat or baseball cap, contact lenses (better than eye glasses), snack.

CHECK-IN
You can bring the printed confirmation, a Transaction ID number or show us the receipt on your smart phone.

TIPS
You could get motion sickness if you are tired, hungry, hung over, or just sensitive to motion sickness. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, eat ginger before the trip or drink carbonated water.

CANCELLATION POLICY
7 Day Policy -20% daily deduction applies within 7 days. Change or cancellation could incur a surcharge or transaction fee depending on the severity or complexity. No refund is given within 24 hours.

GRATUITY
You are encouraged to tip the guides if you feel they go above and beyond their duty. 15% gratuity is recommended.
