Not good

Sanders park has got to be the worse place to camp if you have any type of camper... tent, you till be ok , but camper don't bother... couldn't even park on the pad at our site... the whole site was all downhill... had to park the camper sideways and used alot of support to the front to get it leveled.. which wasn't very easy..the electric and water hook ups were way far apart.. there was 3 firepits in our area and if we put the camper on the pad the right way, all the firepits would be behind the camper. This was overal a bad experience for us all ..the restroom and shower building actually were not to bad. They were pretty clean .... But we definately won't return here... but again if you have a tent you will be fine...
Cliffside park campground

The campground was nice and clean. The bathroom was well kept. The price was decent, although I think a $12 non-refundable reservation fee is kind of high. We booked a spot for one night on the same day we were going to stay there as we were driving through Wisconsin. We got there and started setting up at our assigned spot and the camp host came by and was not as friendly as other hosts at other campgrounds we stayed at during our road trip. She was a bit stand offish about not having a reservation for that spot for that night. I showed her my confirmation email and she calmed down after that. She said she hadn't checked the reservations in a while, so maybe she should have done that when she first saw us instead of coming straight to us to tell us there were no reservations for that spot for that night, when there actually was.

We loved the campground. The sites were large and it was quiet. The nicely mowed paths were great to walk on to see beautiful Lake Michigan.
Nice place but electric is still no good.

We love the convenience and cleanliness of this campground. The only bad thing is that the power has issues. We tent and use minimal power but had issues with popping the breaker. We don't have this issue at other campgrounds. Unfortunately this fall it meant very cold nights for my family. This is not the first time with this problem at cliff side . I had hoped that by trying a different site this time things would be different.
Nice place but electric is still no good.

Booking issue.

We have enjoyed camping at Cliffside and don't have a problem with the $12 booking fee. I do have a problem, however with paying the $12 twice because we could not get a site for 7 continues days and had to book a 2nd site to complete our stay. I'm thinking this could be addressed. Otherwise, great park.

This campground was a serendipitous find! Soooo quiet, sparkling restrooms and showers, and very well kept. The only thing that would improve it is adding sewer. I would go back here again and again!

Very nice well kept campground. Campground hosts were helpful, in solving a problem with registration. Very disappointed with the lack of WiFi and unlevel RV sites. Had to make a change of sight as, after leveling the motor home, all rear tires were about 3" off the ground. Having tires off the ground is a NO-NO for a motor home. Also, did not see a cliff, or Lake Michigan, while at the park.
Great Campgrounds

We love this campground, third time we stayed here over the last 5 years. Well maintained, quiet, good location, close to bike trails. Wish the paths to the lake were marked better, there are a lot of splits, etc., hard to tell where the main path was.

I stayed here about 3 weeks visiting my sister. It was booked on the weekend so I stayed with her for those days, but I stayed for 3 weekday visits. It was a very nice park, large trees, well kept grassy areas and a very nice place for walks in the group camping section. I will definitely stay here again.
Best Campground in the Chicago-Milwaukee Area!
Review by PVE on 9/8/21, 4:06 PM
We spent the summer visiting family in Kenosha and Northern Illinois, in a motorhome. We stayed at several other campgrounds and this one was by far the best! It was more quiet, more clean, and temperatures weâre definitely cooler because of the nearby cliffs along Lake Michigan. Plus, there is both electricity AND water at each campsite, which the two Illinois state parks we stayed at did not have. Because we were staying longer than our 39 gallon water tank could hold, that was a deal breaker for us! The best part for us was the well groomed walking trails between the campground and the lake. Just beautiful! I would also like to give shout out for the awesome care, service, and patience Rhonda at the Racine County Park office gave us with the several times we had last minute changes to our reservations. She was an angel and a pleasure to talk with and was able to help out every time we called! We look forward to our next summerâs visit.

Beautiful park. Campsites not level and not good for motorhomes. Water in our site was 75 feet from campsite.
Clean and well kept

We are from Michigan but come yearly to visit family and friends in the Milwaukee area. This was a great spot for "home base" and is close enough to the city that people can come visit us or we can go to them. We like the fact that there is a bike trail nearby as well. The bathrooms are clean and showers are roomy. Sites are mostly open with a few trees. Some back up to the woods and are a little more private. Though the campground was pretty full when we were there, it was relatively quiet. There were 2 minor things that we heard during the night. One was a train (in the distance) and the other was roosters crowing VERY early in the morning. We were on the far west side of the campground and it was pretty loud (but we had our camper windows open). All in all a nice stay and we'll likely be back next year!
Sweet surprise!

It's a wonderful little park that I stumbled up by accident a couple years ago, how fortuitous. I have found more and more area of interest to visit in the Racine/Kenosha area, now I go back just to explore. The large shaded sites and clean facilities are a great draw in themselves.

Beautiful and well maintained park. We loved waking up to sounds of roosters and chickens from nearby homes. It's our second year coming here from Ft Lauderdale, and looking forward to another month next year. Dave and Judy the camp hosts are wonderful, and very approachable in answering any questions you may have regarding your stay. Also a big shout out to Casey from Racine Parks, who went above and beyond to help us with our reservations in the last month. Can't say enough about this hidden gem!!

The guy that helped me over the phone was outstanding. We called just a few days before our stay, with a very full park, but he spent a lot of time and was able to find us two sites. We had to move one night to make it work but he was able to get us close to our other site. Very patient and worked hard to make it all come together.
Great. Campground

We found this gem of a campground by accident. We were looking for state park campgrounds and came across county parks. Zeroed in on this one and reserved a site. Imagine.......a county cg with electric AND water at each site. Once we got there, we were pleasantly surprised how much space there was between sites! We'll be back.
Well Spaced Sites
Review by RV Wanderer on 8/11/21, 8:01 AM
Overall the campground is very well groomed and maintained, bathrooms clean, and the sites are not too crowded like many parks. I do wish that the paths out to the cliffs were better marked...heck, ANY signs or a map on the onfo board would help! After all, part of the draw is that the campground is supposedly on or near the cliffs, but it is probably a half mile walk to see the lake.

Restful Retreat in Racine
Review by Linda on 8/9/21, 6:33 PM
I hesitate to give Cliffside a positive review because this hidden gem is sure to become harder to book as people learn about it. But, the Racine County Parks Dept and all those involved with this park deserve a huge pat on the back and a Thank You! for a job well done at Cliffside year after year. PROS: wide, comfortable sites, many mature trees throughout the park, newly planted trees added to help the park retain its natural setting. Good quality picnic tables and fire rings. Gravel parking pad that is large enough to fit trailer and tow vehicles (or larger units like Class As). Walking trails that are well trimmed and fairly easy to follow (I get turned around easily). Extremely clean bathrooms. CONS: We were surprised to realize checkout is 1 pm. (Check-in time is 3 pm.) We are more accustomed to the later check out time you find in state parks. It would be great to get our full 24 hours on the last day. I do realize the hosts go around and clean out the fire pits and check each site. (They were doing that as we arrived on our first day â and our pit was great! Well vented! Thank you!) I would prefer the later check out anyway. SUGGESTION: Is there a way to make a safe lookout at the cliffs? I saw a lot of hikers climbing down to get to the beach. If there were a way to get better views from the top (trimming trees, etc.), that might keep people from climbing down. (Well, everyone but the idiots.) I do understand there are erosion concerns, though. TIPS: We got all of the Milwaukee channels with our RV antenna (over the air). You are close enough to the broadcast towers that you shouldnât experience signal drop out. LTE signal for Verizon and AT&T were checked; they seemed equal and adequate for streaming (hotspot phone or MiFi). We donât watch much TV while camping unless it rains, so we didnât do any streaming/hotspot testing. FWIW: Iâve read a lot of negative comments about the camp hosts. We only spoke to her once; she was pleasant and informative.

Cliffside Park in Racine is a very nice campground with spacious sites, easy access, playgrounds for kids and pretty quiet. Haven't been there in many years, but will definitely be going back after this recent visit. We forgot how nice it is.
Better This Year
Review by Jobeck on 8/8/21, 1:30 PM
This year's stay at Clifside was much better for us versus the past three years. Evidently the campground "hosts" have been somewhat "reigned in" by the county administration. They were still ever-present, looking for ruleinfractions ons", but were much more civil in their approaches to the campers - less accusatory, loud, threatening language were present this time. Of course the selective enforcement was still in evidence - centering on those folks who had young children, etc.; but all-in-all, this was a much more enjoyable trip for our family. Please continue to keep the "hosts" in check - it will be an even more enjoyable place ro visit and "unwind".

Camp Host has issues
Review by Phil on 7/26/21, 10:37 AM
We had a wonderful Camping experience at cliffside County park July 16-19, 2021. the only exception we had was just the attitude of the resident camp host, it wasn't just us but the other campers in our group ( we had three sites altogether) also experienced her in a manner that reflects poorly on the park. When one of our group asked her a question about their registration she just responded with a blank stare and after a few minutes of just staring she responded rudely and didn't provide any assistance whatsoever. As i was preparing to depart my site the same camp host actually scolded me for draining some of the water from my cooler on to the gravel driveway on my site... seriously.. this is a person who is going around the campground looking for things to complain about. you'd think that someone who takes the position of Camp Host ( along with the perks that come with it) would be able to maintain a pleasant and friendly attitude towards the campers who support the park.
