The club is focussed on providing affordable accommodation with reasonable nightly rates
Whether you ski, board, toboggan, or just play in the snow; our club’s a great place to be.
We warmly welcome new members.

Our members come from all over the North Island of New Zealand and new members are always welcome.

Focussed on providing affordable accommodation directly on the Whakapapa Ski Field (The only place in NZ where you can stay overnight on a ski field). Ideal for both direct on field, ski in & out access during winter, or, as a base for the variety of outdoor activities (see below) in the Tongariro National Park area.

The nightly rate per person for Groups is $20. Available Sunday to Thursday nights during the Ski Season (30 June to late October), and 7 days for the remainder of the year.

Otaihape Alpine Club Attractions

The lodge sleeps 20 in 3 bunkrooms of 6, 6 and 8, and is self-catering.

Facilities include

TV room (currently DVD only)

Vehicle and bus parking is available at the top of Bruce Rd and it is a 15-20 minute walk up to the lodge, or 10-15 minute walk down depending on levels of fitness.

Guests bring everything up in back packs (suitcases are not suitable). This provides an educational opportunity in packing ‘essential only’ items which should include adequate footwear for the walk up (we suggest slippers for in lodge) and outer clothing including waterproof gloves and warm hats suitable for all the conditions likely to be encountered – from sunshine to rain and/or snow. (Please check your group bring waterproof coats) With careful packing, most food can be brought up on the first trip, with perhaps stronger people in the group taking a second trip if needed.

NOTE: Bookings will not be accepted if you have outstanding Subs or hut fees.

Cancellations Standard season
(All winter except weekends in September and the whole of the 3rd term school holidays) If cancellations are made more than four days before a stay (e.g. Monday night before Friday night stay) then a full refund will be given. If cancellations are made later than this then no refund will be given.

Cancellations High season
(Weekends in September and the whole of the 3rd term school holidays) There is a 50% non refundable component to the hut fees. If cancellations are made more than four days before a stay (e.g. Monday night before a Friday night stay) then a 50% refund will be given. If cancellations are made later than this then no refunds will be given.
