About DMASWA (Municipal Service Center)

Select this option to set up an appointment to dispose of household hazardous waste at the special collection event on May 18,2019. This collection event is sponsored by the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency. Please have all the items in a box for quick removal from the vehicle. We ask that all items be in its original container or clearly marked with its contents. If any containers are leaking please place them in a plastic bag if possible. Any individual containers over 5 gallons will not be accepted.

Acceptable Waste Includes:
- Household cleaners include toilet bowl, oven, rug/carpet, drain and ammonia based cleaners
- Laundry detergents, soaps, cosmetics, and medications are not accepted
- Common lawn and garden products accepted include weed & feed fertilizers, herbicides such as Round-up and 2-4-D, and pesticides such as roach and ant sprays, mole killer, mouse poisons, and flying insect sprays
- Automotive chemicals accepted include brake fluids, carburetor and engine cleaners transmission fluid, waxes and polishes
- Hobby products and paints accepted include oil based paints, stains, paint removers, thinners such as alcohol or acetone, varnishes, and wiping oils such as Tung Oil
- Used motor oil, oil filters, or antifreeze.

Items Not Accepted:
- Water-based latex paints and stains. However, if the label calls for a water cleanup it is a latex product and can be dried out and placed in the trash.
- Household detergents, soaps, cosmetics, and medicine.
- Any item larger than 5 gallons will not be accepted at the event
