 Great area

Review by No reservations on 10/12/24, 1:23 PM

Great location. Would prefer showers that don't stop in the middle of my shower wanting a few more quarters. The big problem is the on line presence which frankly sucks. They should move to a simpler reservations platform.

 Great hideaway

Review by Cheryl on 9/23/24, 11:43 AM

Loved the campgrounds. Very pretty and didn't feel over-crowded. My only wish is for hot water in the bathroom. I look forward to coming again.

Thank you for your kind review. We have let the county know people are asking for hot water in the bathrooms. Safe travels and hope to see you again soon.

Loved it. Beautiful sites and very quiet and peaceful. Loved the views. Clean bathrooms and my only wish is for full hookups but appreciate the water and electricity and the wonderful experience. I will definitely be back.

 Camp

Review by Dinky on 9/12/24, 2:38 PM

For the price I would have expected more. The state park is cheaper and cleaner. Sorry but won’t be back

Response From Boice Cope Park on 9/15/24, 12:54 PM

Thanks for the review, sorry you were disappointed. Not familiar with the state parks, but for $20-$35 a day we cant go much lower and keep he gates open. After eight years of full time RV'ing we were ecstatic to find a park with spots on a Lake/Ocean/River for the price, but I get it, I always want a better deal. As far as not very clean, we take pride in having a clean park. Bathrooms are cleaned several times a day, lawns mowed weekly, each campsite is gone through after each quest leaves and prior to the next arriving. We wish you would have stopped by the host spot and let us know what was wrong, particularly if it was bad enough you would never come back? We get compliments daily on the condition of the park and really would like to know what was wrong in case we are missing something. So safe travels, if you ever do decide to give us another chance please stop by the host site and and say hello.

 My first campout in Oregon

It was a windy day but was so wonderful to watch the windsurfers. Bathrooms were clean. The showers need quarters but I was plenty clean for $1.50. Very quiet at night. Great place & would highly recommend it!

 Perfect for wind sports

Review by Kitesurfer on 8/29/24, 5:20 PM

Floras lake is a well known destination for wind sports. It is nearly always windy and with the wind comes cooler temperatures. Because the campground is so near the ocean, it is frequently cloudy and/or misty even when there are blue skies a few miles east. Be prepared for cool and windy conditions. There is a lot to do and see. One can hike south to Black lock point, or go North along the beach to hunt for agates. If you do go North, leave your dogs at home because the area is protected Snowy plover habitat. You WILL be cited if you bring your dog north of the lake. On windy days it's exciting to watch the kiters doing tricks and impressively big jumps. If kiting or winging looks like fun, you can talk to the folks at Floras Lake Wind Sports about learning to kite or foil. Who knows!? Maybe you could be doing those massive jumps someday!

 Great Place!

Review by suzl on 8/21/24, 11:48 PM

We so enjoy this campground. It's not too big and therefore, not too busy. There is a huge green, grassy area in the middle (nice for croquet, etc). The facility is ideally located near and lake and the beach. So many recreational options.

Review by Linda on 8/15/24, 11:35 AM

We went there to wing foil on the lake and boy was it windy. We LOVED our spot, power and water hookup with plenty of room for our 32 ft RV plus tow car (Explorer, so not tiny). Camp hosts were super nice kept the place immaculate. Large open field in the center of the park where we played chuckit with our dog. Very quiet at night. We did not use the restroom or laundry. It's hard to get a spot here so we felt lucky. Will def be back!

 Very clean and well presented

Review by Tricky on 8/10/24, 11:12 AM

We had site #36 for two nights. The site was clean, spacious and set fairly near to the bathrooms. It also had the drinking water tap nearby - the water was really good. Other campers were quiet and at night all you could hear was the ocean. Of course, Floras Lake is very windy in the day, hence the large numbers of wind and kite surfers, but it dropped as the sun went down. Bathrooms were clean, and the shower had perfect temperature water, with plenty of time to shampoo, shower and even condition the hair. We didn't meet the hosts but admired their 'flower garden' outside their camper as we walked round the site.

Thank you for your kind review. We hope you had a great time. Thanks for the comment on my flowers. Safe travels.

 Very comfy

Review by Joey on 8/7/24, 1:36 AM

After playing for a South Coast Folk Society contradance at Langlois Cheese Factory, Boice-Cope Campground was an ideal place to crash. Some of the sites seem less than desirable. #12 or 13 is right by the trail to the lake. #s 15, 16, 17 were a little small and cramped. Some other tent sites looked very small and without any privacy. I wish there was a another small restroom at the far end of the campground. It was a busy August weekend without any vacancy, but I wish the existing restrooms were a little cleaner. Would be nice to provide paper towel and a shelf for toiletries by the two sinks. The campground's location is perfect for quick access to the area's recreational opportunities, hiking trails to Blackrock Point and into the New River Area of Critical Environmental Concern, and provisions including the world-famous hot dog, breakfast burritos, hot coffee, beer and other necessities at Langlois Market.

Response From Boice Cope Park on 8/15/24, 2:40 PM

Thanks for the review. 12 and 13 are some of our favorite spots due to the quick access to the lake, but I get it, check out the map on the website as some of the spots on either end offer more privacy. The tent area is an open area and it seems to work well for most as many appreciate the ability to set up as needed. On busy, sold out weekends the bathrooms get hit hard and we check on them multiple times throughout the day but can only do so much, sorry if you hit them after a rush. I like the idea of a shelf in the bathroom maybe look at doing something. With only 44 spots probably can't add a bathroom without increasing the cost to campers.

Very pleased with this gem of a campground. Very clean, especially the women's bathroom. The resource room was a thoughtful touch. Very windy, until night. Campers were quiet. Having the lake so close was an added bonus.

 So very disappointed!

Review by Witcher family on 7/29/24, 2:32 PM

Last year was our first time at Boice Cope and we enjoyed it very much. So, in February of '24, we made reservations for late July, '24. We were camping with friends, and always reserve side by side sites. Due to a mix-up with someone ELSE being in our assigned spot and already set up, we set up on the only site next to our friends (without paying any attention to the reservation tag.) An honest mistake, considering. We then discovered we should actually be in the spot where the motor home was already set up, so we went to the camp host to straighten things out. She determined that the person who SHOULD be in the spot we were in had not called to verify that they would be showing up late, and so their spot was relinquished to us. That saved the people who had set up in our reserved spot from having to take down and move. HOWEVER, the host "forgot" to change things on line that indicated the site we were in was reserved for 3 days. So, on the day before WE were scheduled to leave, they said we'd have to move. We asked why the incoming person could not temporarily set up on an open spot so we could stay our final night where we were. Their answer was the other people "were staying longer, so WE would have to move." There was NOTHING fair about the whole situation since it was the HOST who flubbed up. We are awaiting a refund for our final night, though we have heard not a peep from the department. My husband is disabled and setting up/taking down our RV is a MAJOR undertaking. We will NOT be back!

Response From Boice Cope Park on 8/15/24, 2:31 PM

Thanks for the review, sorry things did not turn out the way you had hoped. Just wanted to clear up a few points. Your name was on the spot you reserved, and the name on your spot was not yours, yet you did not come to let us know you were in the wrong spot until you were completely set up and had already had dinner. You asked to not have to move due to your husband being disabled. The camp host said she would try to make that work. Much like your "honest mistake" we were not able to extend the reservation, not really a mistake and not "Flubbed up" as the reservation was already booked by someone else. We came and spoke with you in the morning and stated we would need you to move to the spot you reserved back in February as the new people coming in were staying longer then one night in the spot they had reserved. You demanded we move the people coming in, because your husband was disabled. We could not simply move other people so you could stay in the incorrect spot as it would have involved moving multiple campers that were all in their correct spots. You forgot to mention we did offer to move your camp over so all you would have to do is hook up your trailer and back in. So too bad it did not work out, but we made multiple concessions, offers and attempts to make the situation as painless as possible yet were met with accusations, finger pointing and blaming for a situation we did not create, Last point you did not mention is we let you stay long after check out time, to the point the campers coming in to their spot, the one you were camped in, had to park on the road and wait several hours for you to leave. Since you decided to leave early, the refund policy is very clear, that you do not get a refund.

 Enjoyed my time

Review by Nico on 7/27/24, 2:19 PM

Only negative i have is the big lawn. It is scary to walk across. Have to look down for every step as its not smooth. Lots of holes. Have jammed my knees a couple of times. Also would be a concern for someone with weak ankles. Would like to see it smoothed out and replanted. The moles/gophers have made a mess of it. Everything else was awesome. Staff are great. Services are nice for such a small campground.

 Great little hidden gem

Review by Ren on 7/23/24, 4:37 AM

We stayed in site 14 and it was wonderful. The site is very large and has a great fire pit spot. The tent camping and center sites were not as shaded, so I recommend the back corner. But even though the park is fairly open, it was super quiet. Folks just did their thing. Lots of dogs and everyone showed great dog etiquette. Many of the people staying were enjoying various water sports, which was fun to watch. Also the hosts were really nice and accommodating and the sites and common areas were clean and well maintained. I was just stopping over for a couple of nights to attend a conference, but I will make this a regular stop now that I know about it.

First Time at Boice Cope Park

Review by Tony on 7/22/24, 12:02 AM

This was our first stay at the campground and it was perfect! We had a flat tent spot, enjoyed the easy going atmosphere of other campers, appreciated the "resource center" to charge our devices, hot showers to wash the sand off, scenic Floras Lake Loop Trail, and more. Leslie the campground host is wonderful and friendly, too! We will definitely return in the future.

 Great camping for wind sports

Review by The best... on 6/23/24, 1:28 PM

We love this place, it has all the comforts of home: wi-fi, hot showers, laundry, clean restrooms plus gorgeous views and welcoming camp hosts. My husband can walk down to the lake to wing, I can walk down to the ocean to hike. On slow wind days we can paddle on the lake or drive to some amazing hikes in nearby parks and forests.

Review by 2GirlsonaRoadTrip on 5/20/24, 2:09 PM

We tent camped two nights at this quiet, well-maintained County Park. Our reservation was for a lake-view site. Upon a later than expected arrival due to a major auto accident above Bandon, we discovered our site (#2) was barely big enough or level enough for our tents. Fortunately, the campground hosts were able to accommodate our request for another site which better met our needs for our two night stay. Be advised, the wind coming off the lake pretty much only dies down at night. Makes tent camping a bit of a challenge and quite cold during the early part of the season. We were definitely able to see why this park is a destination for wind/kite surfers! Fun and somewhat hair-raising to watch them skimming across the lake and flying through the air. All other campers around us were courteous and quiet. The womens bathroom facilities were very, very clean. There was no hot water at the sinks for washing hands or faces which was slightly disappointing after having this luxury at the multiple State Parks we visited. Definitely a safe, lovely, well-maintained park to visit but better in an RV if it's early in the season.

Thanks for the review and staying with us, it was nice meeting you both. Sorry about the hot water, hopefully when we get to do some upgrades that will be one of the improvements, hope to see you again.

Nice little county park with a lake right on the beach. People like to kite surf the lake. April, quiet, clean, off season a little. Took a hike around the lake with the dog and walked the beach.

 Lovely Surprise

Review by Allison on 3/26/24, 10:01 AM

We stayed here for a week in March and initially wondered if we'd booked too long a stay since it's not especially close to any cities to visit. However, we found the park itself to be a reason to stay! It's small, but had steady guests coming and going while we were there. Local residents come and take walks around the loop, as do campers. We have four children and it felt very safe. We never interacted with the park host, but they were visibly present-- the lawn was mowed twice while we were there, change-over of sites was smooth with new reservations posted in a timely manner. I did not use the bathroom or shower, but noted that the shower is coin operated- so be prepared for that. Our rig is 38' fifth wheel and it was not too difficult to get situated. Now the location itself- beautiful! Floras like is a lovely backdrop! We learned that there are two main paths to the beach-- one goes to the left (and is the more obvious/visible path) skirts Floras Lake and is sand the whole way. This is the harder path. We much preferred taking the second path to the right of the beach warning sign that is posted after you have gone through the trees. This second path is on solid ground, shorter, and takes you on top of the dune where you've got a gorgeous view of surrounding pastures. We spent many sunrises snd sunsets out there on the beach. It's excellent for agates and shells. Our kids loved playing on the dunes and searching for beach treasures (as did parents). This beach is NOT one to play near the waves-- they come in too strong for children (or anyone, I'd say). We kept our kids well away from the surf. BUT you have Flora's lake right there with lots of beach and gentle water. I cant speak to the lake beach for swimming or children as we spent very little time at the lake. We loved just chilling here!

 We loved it

It is very clean and mellow. There are showers and nice bathrooms, a nice playground and a market in Langlois which isn't far. A beautiful lake view and ocean trail. The host was helpful with any questions or concerns we had. We will be back!

We had a wonderful time while staying at Boice-Cope Park. We enjoyed walking out to the ocean, touring south to a few miles past Gold Beach, and touring to the north to 7 Devils day use area. We really enjoyed the viewpoints and walking on a couple of the beaches at Bandon. We were fortunate and nice weather during our visit. There were sheep with baby lambs, and cows with calves, not far from the entrance to the park.

Really nice park, out of the way in a nice way. While a bit close together sites, it is very quiet. The only noise is the sound of the ocean waves at night with ZERO traffic noise. The reservation confirmation does not appear to allow you to pick sites, but we were happy with where we were automatically assigned

We found this place 4 years ago and we return every year. It is small, quiet, listening to the sound of the ocean all day and night is heavenly. Altho the facility is older, it is well maintained. The camp host is great, very friendly and helpful. It is a nice walk to both Floras Lake and the ocean - truly the best of both worlds. We will return next year again, as we have fir 4 years. It does get crowded in tge summer and since we are retired we are lucky andcable to go in tge quieter times. Lake Floras is known for wind surfing so if you don't like wind, that would be a clue this is not the place fir you!

We stayed with a 38 foot diesel pusher towing a car. We found the campground easy to find and easy to maneuver into and out of. The setting is very peaceful with the sound of waves lulling you to sleep. We would definitely stay again. We planned only a one night stay and ended up staying the second night.

 Nice Quiet County Park

Review by Johnnie XXXXX on 9/26/23, 1:20 PM

My review is based off traveling 7 months a year in a 45 foot class A Motorhome with a tow, visiting about 400 parks in the last 10 years. We inserted this park as part of our plan this year for 3 days to just check out the area. Upon arrival my first thought driving up to the gate was will my rig fit here? They advertise 45 foot spaces and actually the do have some sites that are 45 to 55 feet long but in my opinion that didn't, doesn't make it a good site for a bigger rig. We squeezed into our site and hooked up with little effort as the site was basically level. Generally while most sites have space between them they are still small for the intended use. Note, a lot of low / stray branches to scratch the tops or sides of your rig so be careful. The lake here is very popular with sail borders and Kite boarders. Most of the people we saw staying here overnight were seniors. Also each night I saw 2-4 people sleeping in their cars overnight (not so sure they were paying customers// but definitely not homeless people). The beach is a short walk (1/4 mile) and you can hear the sound in the campground. The have restrooms, showers, laundry room, and fire wood available here. We had good 50 amp power, water was fine and I didn't use the dump station. The majority of people here had a dog, so you decide if that is good or bad. Host was friendly and helpful. My iPhone 13 on Verizon was 1-2 bars and very slow, not useful for a hot spot. Satellite service will likely work in most but not all sites. Also note Wind blows a lot here!!!! Its a nice area and super quiet when we visited in the end of September, but I probably won't stay here again as there's lots of other small campgrounds to explore up and down the coast and this one is not special. Oh, also good star gazing as the sky is pretty dark in this area.

The camp site should have been marked reserved, but was not. I had to move after one night, but the camp host got some people to move me 3 spots over which was great.

Great, camp host. Very nice place to stay. I will be back again. Great views. Good Blackberry bushes all around.

Great campground, great location, great hosts, friendly campers. I wish we could have had a campfire.

 Labor Day Weekend

Review by Steve & B on 9/7/23, 7:45 AM

With a 40' motor home the back-in was a little tight but doable. Site was level and the utilities worked fine. Bathrooms & showers are dated but very clean and stocked. Laundry also clean. Hosts were friendly and kept up with a full park (Labor Day weekend). Walk to the Ocean via the lake was kind of hard because of the loose sand but well worth it. Yes, had to have a Hot Dog from the market and it was good.
