 Chipmunk Peninsula

Review by BEERNUTS on 10/21/24, 9:50 AM

We reserved at Chipmunk Peninsula campground for the Thanksgiving long weekend , & it was very nice. We have camped at a lot of places over the years & I can honestly say that this campground was one of the better ones. I would most definitely reserve at this campground again. The HOST was super friendly & the overall site appeared to be clean.

The worst ever experience with trying to camp there ... the stuff is aggressive and inadequate . Never ever be back here and anybody won't suggest to come here ... No communication thru the phone indicated on website , no answers on questions by mail ...even thru reservation comment section NOBODY contact !!! Nobody care about your requests ..... Horrible camp!(((

Review by Seabird on 9/12/24, 10:17 PM

It was so peaceful, clean and super nice and respectful campers. I can’t remember the lady’s name who takes care of the site but she is extremely kind and welcoming. It’s crazy how she handles things for such a large place!

This place is my new favorite. Sites are nice, bathrooms are looked after and there is a play area for the kids. Lots of places along the river to dip your feet and a few pools if water to sit in aswell.

Awesome hosts! Plenty of site options. Clean and well maintained. Falling asleep to the river running in the background was so peaceful. Great location along the Chilliwack river valley.

Review by Susie  on 8/19/24, 8:11 AM

The camp hosts at Tamahi were AMAZING. Had a site booked for a ladies weekend but we were a tight squeeze so they offered us another site and it worked out so great! Very accommodating and super friendly.

 Online site numbers are wrong

Review by Unhappy Camper on 8/14/24, 2:36 PM

Thurston Meadows online map for the site numbers are not correct. The actual site numbers are different. I almost could not fit my RV unit on the site. I talked to the manager and showed him the onsite numbers were not the same as the online map. Please have this address as I was lucky I could fit my trailer on site and it was not the site I revered online. And apparently you cannot get any reservation fee refunded. Unhappy camper.

 Love Chilliwack Valley campsites

Review by Dana on 8/4/24, 12:02 PM

Was totally thrilled with the new hosts at Thurston Meadows and Rose who came to check on us. The outhouse was the bomb. Freshly painted, no bugs or spider webs and was not smelly at all. My only complaint would be that bear cans need to be brought back. A lot us tent camp and will not always have the room to take garbage home..Will be back

 Chipmunk Beauty

Review by Yarrowite on 7/28/24, 9:25 AM

Thanks Rose for being a great camp host! First time to Chipmunk and we're returning for the long weekend. So peaceful and beautiful. The water volume is perfect for lulling us to sleep, seeing the rafters go by is always fun and families taking time to be with each other, warms the heart.

 Beautiful and peaceful

Spent the 5 hottest days in BC nestled in a beautiful, shaded campsite at Thurston Meadows. Love that campground and the new hosts are doing a great job. We’re already book for a return trip at the end of August.

Been coming here for 5 years love the campsight and river. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. The down fall though is every year people walk through to get to river and we have dogs that might or might not bite. But they don’t care and ignore you. They need to clean the public access walkway as it is over grown.and the big thing this year we had to Put everything away as for the last 2 weeks thieves were coming in and steeling everything.

 Great experience

Review by Mimi on 7/20/24, 1:37 PM

I have stayed Thurston Meadow 5 years and this year July. We had great experience over all during our this July stay. Host was nice and accommodate to open the gate early for our friend who just came to park the car and go hiking with us in our truck which we need to drive on FSR 4x4 required. What we did not understand is our friend only stayed 10 mins or less to hop in our truck and left campsite for whole day and still have to pay visitor fee?? It was never like this 5 years ago when we stayed. It was kind of hard to understand what is the visitor policy too. But, overall site was just by the river and nice to get cool off during these hot days. Thank you

 Good, could be better

Review by Gary on 7/14/24, 3:18 PM

Good hosts and price, a few things could make it 5 star. Over 65 you cannot get discount rate on line by reserving it's only fcfs. Need some dust treatment on camp roads for the people with no common sense. Sites 2 thru 9 should have safer trails(stairs) down to the river.

Amazing hosts, clean campground, and wonderful for families

Review by Kubeska Family on 6/30/24, 3:06 AM

We we’re greeted the second we pulled into the campsite. The hosts were so lovely. A mother and son. We had booked one site and the mother had noticed that another site was available closer to the campground (we were travelling with two little girls). We were able to look at both sites. She was so kind. Later her son drove by to make sure everything was comfortable. They helped us out with firewood. 10 out of 10 would recommend. They made sure there was not lots of loud noise at night And 10 out of 10 would recommend for families. Thank you guys so much.

No more first come first serve. No next to the river sites unless it’s a group. Some people don’t want to hear generators and babies. Would be nice to have a section that is quiet at 7 am Sunday morning. Not fair the good sites are for group only. Says no entry. That’s a huge section of the river. We paid to camp next to a river that we can’t access 3/4 of it. We miss how it was before. The hosts are super nice. Just wish we could rent 58,65 all those ones over there. Where we could have piece and quiet. Instead we seen them sit empty.

Response From Chilliwack Valley Campsites on 6/17/24, 9:31 AM

Any site that is not reserved is a first come first serve sites. The group site if not reserved by a group would be first come first serve. Generator hours are 8 am to 10 pm when needed and not to be run all day

Great place to camp especially if you ride motorcycles or quads. The hosts are excellent and they have worked hard over the last couple years put more gravel in the sites to make them more level, less muddy and generally improve the sites. Thewy have also cleaned the campground up, nice job. In the dusty season they even run a truck through occasionally and put water down on the road to help keep the dust down. Have been going here for several years and the current hosts are the best.

We love Thurston Meadows. It is our go to campground. This was our first long weekend camping experience there, and though it was fully booked iWe loved it. We enjoyed getting up and starting our walk along the TCT trail right from our site. It is right off the river si you could enjoyed the sound.. The map on the website really helped us pick a great site. The new hosts, were very friendly and helpful. We booked 5 days for only $102. What a deal for a family fun adventure.

Not fair the good sites are for group only. We used to go it was so peaceful. Would be nice to have it for anyone or those who want quiet. We had a baby crying beside our RV at 7 am. Until the wife yelled at the husband to bring it back inside. The other side his generator going all day long so we left.

Such a nice place - but the generator usage.. holy

Review by Glamper on 4/9/24, 11:03 AM

Such an awesome place to camp. I rely on power myself when camping, I'm not a tenter, but the generator usage at rec sites is so bad. People are just running them all day. Yes they are Honda (or similar) units but they sound like an idling atv, and usually people put them on the backsides of their site because they dont want to hear them. hmmm, so what about everyone else next door? At max capacity this place is still enjoyable. Love chipmunk site.

Response From Chilliwack Valley Campsites on 4/10/24, 8:41 PM

Sorry to hear about generators, they should only be run long enough to charge your battery and not past 10 pm, please next time let the host know
