 Family Vacation ‘24

This is a great place for what it is. We stayed a week for our annual family vacation and rented the entire property (all 4 cabins). This included 9 kids, several folks on their 60s and even a couple in their 80s. (The rest call themselves “regular” age people) Pros: - It’s pretty “rustic” with beautiful wooded sections, nice paths, kitschy decor, and remnants of what it might have been like to live in a wooded cabin 100 years ago - it’s large and flexible accommodating as many as 32 folks for meals and campfires. We had a few folks staying at a nearby hotel as well as a couple more day visitors. - there are several things to do close by most notably Lieber SRA, cataract falls and Cagles mill lake. The owner can arrange pontoon and kayak rentals. Nearby is a bar/grill, a little general store and a DG. - there is room for boat parking and a nearby launch - a few minutes away are hotels, grocery store, pharmacy and liquor store and a little further out are many more options. We took the kids to the drive in theater and bowling to break up the water days. Cons: -It’s pretty “rustic”. Its camping! Even though the cabins may have showers, air con and even internet, they are older wooden cabins. If you’re looking for a resort type stay this is not it. - while the terrain makes for some great views, the property has some very steep paths and roads. In some cases we had to “shuttle” folks up and down the hill in cars and some were hesitant to drive up or down. If you rent one of the two cabins up top this is not an issue however they are also not as secluded either if that’s what you’re looking for. Overall good stay and good value !
