Reviews for Blue Swallow Motel

Tucumcari, New Mexico

 A Piece of History

Review by Very comfortable on 1/12/25, 9:07 AM

I stayed at the Blue Swallow Motel three times in 2024 and plan to stay there any time I am going through Tucumcari. . Every visit has been great! On my first visit I think I spent more on Blue Swallow Motel souvenirs than I did on the room. The owners live on the premises so you always feel safe. Sorry, no in room coffee, micro-wave or mini fridge and no pets allowed but remember you are reliving a part of history. This hotel was built in 1939. There are two really good restaurants near by and on Route 66 ad both are open breakfast through dinner. Make your reservations early as this is a small motel and it is becoming very popular. One of my favorite things is the free coffee and conversation each morning. The owner is quite an historian on the area and always a great story to tell.

Great stay at the Blue Swallow!

We had a wonderful stay with the folks at the Blue Swallow. You can expect hot coffee most all the time the office is open, the owners (and their dog) are VERY friendly and informative about the Motel and area. The room was fantastic, tons of history, beds comfy, air worked GREAT and the hot water was hot! Just being here makes you feel like you took a couple of steps back in time (in a good way). I could ramble on for a good bit saying the same stuff..a must stay on your visit or along Route 66!

A night at the Blue Swallow

Our stay exceeded all expectations. Every little detail was thought out and flawlessly executed by our hosts, Rob and Dawn. We loved sitting outside, watching the neon lighting get brighter against the red, pink and blue skies overhead as the sun set. The music from the 40's added to the atmosphere .. For what we got you would think it would be priced much higher than some of the " brand names" located in town... it wasn't!! . The linens smelled wonderful. We plan on returning next year. Rob, your coffee was outstanding!!

This hotel was amazing and a great deal. The couple running it are so nice and have the cutest dog in the world. Definitely would recommend a stay here to anyone especially if you are doing Route 66. It is a step back in time.
